Summer Student - Transit Planning Assistant

Incumbents in this job assist transit-planning staff in making decisions about bus routes, bus stops and bus stop shelters, and perform general administrative support tasks relating to planning functions.
Education & Experience
Post Secondary Student (completion of second year College or university):
Geography, GIS, urban planning, engineering, operations research, economics, or similar discipline.
Minimum of four (4) months but less than eight (8) months of related experience is required:
Office or engineering experience, with computer data entry/use experience.
Language, Certificates & Licenses
English oral, reading, writing required.
French oral, reading, writing may be required for some positions.
Candidates must meet language requirement for position upon hire.
A valid Ontario unrestricted "G" class driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated.
Knowledge, Competencies & Skills
Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
Able to read engineering drawings
Able to write clear e-mail messages and memos
Able to prepare accurate sketches of bus stop sites
Ability to work both in the field and in the office
